The Florida Department of Transportation is set to begin work this weekend repairing the black ornamental swing gates on the Bridge of Lions in St. Augustine.
They were damaged when a motorist collided with the gates on August 1.
The work willl require a few nighttime lane and sidewalk closures during the project, which is expected to take about two months to complete.
Archer Western Contractors of Jacksonville has been hired by the FDOT to complete the work, which will be done for $65,000.
In 2011, an average of 18,500 vehicles traveled across the Bridge of Lions each day.
