JSO: One person dead, another injured following shooting

Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting off Old Baymeadows Road, near the FSCJ Deerwood campus.

According to the incident report, police were called out around Midnight, after getting reports that one or more people were shot. The report says when police arrived to the scene they found two men who were shot. Police say one of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital while the other victim had at least one serious gunshot wound.

JSO says this all started in the parking lot of the Avesta of Baymeadows Apartments, where two suspects approached the victims, and then opened fire. The victims were able to drive off, and stopped across the street to get help, according to JSO.

The incident report says one suspect was a black man who was seen wearing a red shirt and dark pants. There is no description of a second suspect. The victim identities and what specifically led up to the gunfire are also still under investigation.
