Jacksonville, FL — Just days after he was named in open court as the second suspect involved in the armed robbery and murder of young father Daniel Rowe, 22-year-old Devonte Hanford has been arrested.
WOKV has been following this case for two years, since Rowe was robbed and killed outside of the Blind Rabbit in Riverside. About a year ago, Erron Coleman was arrested, and police continued to search for a second suspect. This past week, Coleman pleaded guilty and named Hanford as the other man involved.
Now, JSO says Hanford is in custody. No other details about the arrest are immediately available.
Jail records show Hanford was actually arrested about two months after the murder on charges including resisting an officer without violence and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana. As a result, he also had his probation violated from a 2014 domestic battery case. Court records show Hanford was additionally charged with possession of a weapon or ammunition by a delinquent at the end of 2015- connected to the same incident that stemmed the charges in September 2015- and he was in jail on that charge until the end of 2016.
Rowe was taking out the trash at the Blind Rabbit- where he worked- when he was robbed and killed. when Coleman pleaded guilty this past week, he admitted to being the gunman. He also agreed to testify at any future court proceedings, which could include Hanford's trial. Rowe's family spoke out after the plea hearing, saying they didn't feel like they would have justice until the second arrest was made.
