It was interesting to see how social media was used while we were dealing with the affects of Beryl and Debby last year here on the First Coast.  I recall communicating with listeners by using social media while I was seated in our building here on the southside of Jacksonville.

Just like we heard from you last year while dealing with severe weather, we want to hear from you again this year.  I asked you on Facebook recently : What are some lessons you have learned from living through storms?

Shann Champion Cohrs posts : "Make sure you have cash, full tank in car, ice in cooler, water in tub, prepare to grill, buy a generator."

James Balderram posts : "Have a working generator"

Rebecca Ballowe posts : "Learn how to open a, can with a manual can opener.  Seriously, my mom had to teach her neighbors after Hurricane Andrew or they would have been very hungry.  Get cash.  Tons.  And there will be looters.  Be prepared."

Dracie Wilson-Shute posts : "To not let your neighbors make fun of you..while you routinly check your generator, or cook outside sometimes with a coleman stove.  Because when their power is out..I will be sitting back fat and happy with a big cup of coffee and hot breakfast."

George Griffiths posts : "No matter how fun it seems, it's not a good time to fly a kite!!"

I also asked on our Facebook page : "Which storm last year were you most affected by : Beryl or Debby? How so?"

Debbie Willisams posts : "Debby!!! Living on CR 218 in Middleburg the road came apart on each side of me and could not go anywhere. They finally got one side fixed but the other side with the bridge remained closed for about 3 weeks and could not get into town. Had to go to Starke just to get food."

Rachel Dodd posts : "Debby. Flodding and hazardous roads"

Cheryl Lord McKay posts : "Debby! i don't ever remember a storm bringing so much rain!! One of the neighbors behind our house had a river for a bach yard because of Debby!"

James D Worm Boyle posts : "Beryl.  Huge part of pecan tree fell on my house."

Brent Shyrock posts : "Hurricane Obama...."

Meanwhile, we want to hear from you again : What do you expect from us on Facebook and Twitter during severe weather?  Tell us on our Facebook and Twitter pages by searching "WOKV News".
