Jacksonville, FL — A 17-year-old died and three other people suffered serious to life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle crash of a stolen car on Cassat near Lenox Avenue.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was driving recklessly as it approached a JSO K9 officer and vehicle that was on the side of Cassat Avenue with its its on.
The officer called in the report and began to pursue when the vehicle crashed into a fence, flipped, and ended on its side.
17-year-old Dontavious Joseph was ejected from the vehicle and died on scene. Three other people were taken to a local hospital. They have not been publicly identified.
JSO says the vehicle had been reported stolen, and a stolen gun was recovered after the crash. An investigation into those details of the event are ongoing.
The intersection of Cassat and Lenox was closed for multiple hours after the crash, which was reported around 1am. Lanes reopened around 6am.
