Support high, but tickets sales below goals for Navy/Notre Dame

A major college football rivalry is coming to Jacksonville this weekend.

“We’re so excited about the opportunity to host this game. It’s the longest rivalry in college football,” says JAXSPORTS Council President/CEO Rick Catlett.

Navy/Notre Dame kicks off at 11:30AM Saturday AT EverBank Field, but many events have been programmed around the game itself, including fireworks, a themed Art Walk, a luncheon, and more.

As of Monday, about 53,000 tickets had been sold, according to Catlett- which is about 16,000 under a sellout.

“We would have liked to have sold it out, but unfortunately, Notre Dame is not having a good year,” he says.

Some good luck came with the timing of the game, though. The City builds temporary seats every year to meet contractual requirements for the annual Florida/Georgia game, and some of those seats are staying up to meet the requirements for this game. Catlett says the Club Level seating is still up, and most of those are sold. The temporary seating at the North and South End Zone is coming down, though, in order to use the pools and Cabanas.

If you’re still on the fence, he’s urging you to get a ticket and come out, because of the unique experience and “pageantry” of the rivalry.

“This could be a heck of a game,” he says.

Catlett says there's also still time to donate to the "Heroes Program", which is giving servicemen and women an opportunity to come to the game and get a VIP experience.
