JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A teenager told Jacksonville police Wednesday he was on Dunn Avenue when he was offered a ride by four strangers. After getting into the car, he told officers it drove off and then he was beaten by the unknown males and pistol-whipped. His wallet was taken, according to a police news release.
Officers learned about the incident after being called to the 1500 block of Vantage Way S at about 10:20 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery, the news release states. The teen was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released for injuries to his face, police said.
About eight and a half hours later, officers were called back to the same hospital where the teen returned with a gunshot wound to his upper right thigh, police said.
“The wound was received during the early-morning robbery but went unreported by the victim and undetected by the hospital,” the news release states.
