Three killed, including an infant, in mass shooting in NW Jax

Five people have been shot in Northwest Jacksonville, and three- including an infant- have died.

Police were called to the area of Cleveland Road, near the Cleveland Arms Apartments, over a reported shooting. We’re told a car of people who were shot- two women, a man, and an infant- then showed up at a nearby fire station on Myrtle and Moncrief. One of the women was pronounced dead on location. The infant and other women were taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The man was also transported, but is still alive, and another woman showed up at the hospital with an apparent gunshot wound, so police are including her in the investigation.

At this point, police don’t know if there may be more victims that haven’t yet shown up.

“This is a sad day for Jacksonville, it’s a sad day for everybody who lives in this area, and it’s a sad day for those who are out here investigating this terrible crime,” says JSO Director of Investigations and Homeland Security Ron Lendvay.

Because the investigation is early on, the exact motive isn’t clear, but JSO says this may stem from a dispute involving women earlier today. At least one shooter is being sought, but there could be more.  There’s no suspect description yet available.

JSO has not yet confirmed the relationship or connection among the people involved.

JSO has put out a call for help, telling anyone with information on this shooting to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.

This is a developing story that will be updated in to the evening.
