Jacksonville, Fl — (UPDATE 9:40 am) All lanes are back open after a deadly three-vehicle crash shut down northbound Interstate 95 for hours on Wednesday morning near Old St. Augustine Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 4:48 a.m. and blocked all northbound lanes for several hours.

Troopers say a 56-year-old man from Palm Coast and a 38-year-old Jacksonville man were outside their vehicles on the inside shoulder when they were hit and killed.

Investigators say a 63-year-old man from Wilton Manors was driving a pickup truck when, for reasons still under investigation, he veered onto the inside shoulder. The truck hit both parked vehicles and the two men standing nearby.

The pickup driver was not injured.

All northbound lanes of I-95 near Old St. Augustine Road are blocked due to a deadly crash.

Florida Highway Patrol is diverting northbound traffic off I-95 to 9B.

Drivers can take 9B to U.S. 1 or I-295/East Beltway as an alternate.

The crash happened just before 5:00 am. FHP says two people were killed in the three-vehicle crash.
