There is a new fad that has appeared on the popular social website Facebook that has stirred controversy across the net.
The fad is similar to “planking” but goes much deeper. It imitates the death of Trayvon Martin, who was shot and killed by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman.
In pictures that have surfaced, “Trayvoning” is when a person is lying on the floor with a hoodie on, as if they are dead, with a can of iced tea and a bag of Skittles next to them.
Numerous Facebook pages popped up with people “Trayvoning” since the fad went viral over a week ago.
The pages have since been removed.
Hip-hop gossip site VladTV has posted the pictures and can be seen here .
On Wednesday, new claims surfaced that Zimmerman called Sanford police both lazy and “disgusting”.
"The officer showed me his favorite hiding spots for taking naps, explained to me that he doesn't carry a long gun in his vehicle because, in his words, 'anything that requires a long gun requires a lot of paperwork and you're going to find me as far away from it,” he said in a recorded conversation.
Zimmerman, who claims he shot Martin in self-defense, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges.
