A truck has hit the pedestrian overpass between the University of North Florida Arena and parking garage, closing the path and the road under for an undetermined period of time.
UNF Spokesman Matt Coleman says the vehicle involved was not a UNF truck. He says it appears to have been with a waste management vehicle. Their investigation in to exactly what happened is just beginning.
“We’re just making sure that, for now, everyone is safe and out of the way,” Coleman says.
Nobody was hurt in the crash. We’re told the road and bridge will be closed at least through Monday.
Coleman says structural engineers are now on scene, but it doesn’t appear there are any problems with the connected buildings. It’s unclear at this time who will pay for the repairs.
UNF Drive under the bridge is now closed until the walkway can be deemed safe.
