JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two people have been arrested in connection to the death of a 4-year-old boy.
James Reese Jr. was unresponsive when he was taken to Wolfson Children’s Hospital on April 15. Less than a week later, on April 21, Reese passed away.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says that due to the initial severity of the injuries, and the death of the boy the Homicide Unit assumed the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. They have been investigating for the past month into the initial abuse and now murder.
That investigation has concluded with the arrest of two people Thursday night.
38-year-old Michelle Sipko is facing manslaughter and child neglect charges while 30-year-old Alexander Pino is facing second-degree murder and aggravated child abuse charges.
Christopher Nastasi, the boy’s uncle, identified the child as 4-year-old James Reese and Nastasi provided photos of James to Action News Jax.
