Jacksonville, FL — A 22-year-old man is dead after a fire broke out at an apartment on Confederate Point Road on Jacksonville’s westside Friday morning.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says around 1:30 am, officers and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue arrived at the Heritage on the River Apartments, when they found the man inside the burning unit. The man later died at the hospital.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
The victim is en route to the hospital with critical injuries.

Meanwhile, another person was injured after a separate fire broke out at a home in the Oak Haven neighborhood.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue says crews arrived at the home in the 1500 block of River Hills Circle Friday morning, when they found the victim.

The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries, according to JFRD.
