UNF warning students to be on look-out for phishing email scam reported at other state universities

Jacksonville, FL — The University of North Florida is issuing a warning to students to be on guard for a new phishing email scam.

UNF says they're not aware of any attacks targeting their students, but says the scam has been making the rounds at other Florida public universities, including Florida Gulf Coast.

According to UNF, scammers are using directed attacks in the form of phishing emails and fake websites that look like official university systems, in hopes of tricking students to disclose their log-in credentials.  Once the scammers have that information, UNF says they're then using that log-in information to redirect financial reimbursements by changing where direct deposits go.
