The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has come up with a new purpose for used uniforms.
Retired employee Kit Peterson volunteers to use recycled uniforms to create teddy bears and wreaths. The items are then sold within the agency, with all proceeds going to the Clay County Police Athletic League.
“Our members are really embracing this. It gives them an opportunity to show some pride in their performance and their service to the community,” Peterson tells our partner Action News Jax.

The very first bear she made was given to a child of a fallen Clay County deputy.
The items are only available within the agency right now, because they can’t sell or distribute the patches, but CCSO says they’re working on an option that would allow them to open this to the public.
