Jacksonville, FL — After weeks of delays, the USS Little Rock has finally made it to her new home at Naval Station Mayport.
WOKV has continually followed the growth of the Littoral Combat Ship program at Mayport, which is serving as a homeport for one of the varieties of this ship. Several ships have already set up in Jacksonville and there are support facilities in place, but the USS Little Rock is the latest to move in.
The ship’s homecoming was expected weeks ago, but it was held up by bad weather and heavy ice up north. Many families lined up at Mayport to welcome these Sailors home, with some telling our partner Action News Jax they had been apart around eight months.
Loved ones here. I spoke to a mother about her huband’s return after 8 months. Catch her interview at noon. @ActionNewsJax pic.twitter.com/u4ixLIDjWe

Despite only now getting to Mayport, it won’t be long before the ship is at sea again. The newly released Fleet Week schedule for New York City shows the USS Little Rock will be set up in Staten Island during the event in late May.
This is some of the ice on the ship. Sailors used a tugboat to remove the ship from ice in Montreal on the 27th. Coming up I'll let you know how large the crew was. @ActionNewsJax pic.twitter.com/oWN7TvqZ88
