Windy and warm ahead of afternoon storms

Jacksonville, Fl — Our temperature rollercoaster continues with windy and warm weather today. We had frost just a few mornings ago and temperatures the last few days were in the 60s.

Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says today’s high will be the low 80s, near the record of 83 set in 1990. Much of the day is dry ahead of a cold front that arrives in the early evening. Winds will be out of the south-southwest at 15-25 mph and gusts 30+ mph.

A line of rain and storms will generally be weakening as it moves into Jacksonville between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. A few gusty winds of 50-60 mph and an isolated tornado are possible. The greatest risk for strong storms is just north and west of Jacksonville.

Skies clear for Thursday and we cool down into the upper 50s to lower 60s. And inland freeze and frost arrives again on Friday.

The weekend is going to be dry and sunny. It’ll start cold with an inland freeze but eventually climb to the low 60s. Sunday is looking warmer with temperatures in the low 70s.
