George Winterling, renowned meteorologist credited with inventing the heat index and long-time member of our news partner channel 4 has been hospitalized.
Winterling served as chief meteorologist at channel 4 for 47 years and is still their hurricane expert.
Channel 4's website says only that Winterling is "very ill" but does not mention the gravity or nature of his illness.
