Woman arrested for fatal Riverside shooting

Tiarrah McGriff

Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says there’s no apparent history between a woman and the 22-year-old who’s now accused of her murder.

We first told you late New Year's Day that Sahara Barkley was shot at a BP gas station on Stockton Street. She was taken to the hospital, but died from her injury. JSO says there was an altercation between Barkley and the suspect, Tairrah McGriff, which led to the shooting. JSO says they don't believe at this time that the two knew each other.

After the shooting, JSO released surveillance video from the gas station. We’re told a tip identified McGriff based on that video, and police then got a warrant for her arrest. She turned herself in for a murder charge.

Barkley’s family says she leaves behind a 1-year-old child.
