Jacksonville, FL — A woman was hit and killed by a train in Green Cove Springs on Wednesday night.

The Amtrak train was temporarily suspended following the crash near Russell Road and Dairy Lane. An Amtrak spokesperson says 488 people were on the train at the time, and no passengers or crew members were injured.

“Service on train was delayed by incident and by onboard staff that requested relief from continuing to work for remainder of trip. The train resumed service at around 11 p.m.  The train originated in Sanford, Fla. It was heading to Lorton, Va., at time of incident”, said Amtrak spokesperson Kimberly Woods.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department is handling the investigation into the woman’s death.
