19-year-old accused of sexual battery on a child older than 12

A young man is accused of dragging a child out of the bathroom so he could try to have sex with him.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, the child says 19-year-old Jason Noland tried to make him touch his privates.

A lot of the information in the police report is redacted, but it says the victim, described as being 12 or older, was grabbed by his neck and Noland forced the boy to perform various sex acts. At one point, the victim tried to hide in the bathroom, but Noland broke the lock off the door and dragged the victim out by his neck back into the bedroom.

The suspect’s guardian is heartbroken.

"Very shocked, because Jason has some severe mental problems," said Eleanor Keen.

Noland is charged with sexual battery and is being held on $250,000 bond.
