14-year-old arrested, others disciplined for gun at Westview K-8

Jacksonville, FL — After multiple students were questioned in connection to a gun at the Westview K-8 campus, one has been formally arrested.

WOKV has obtained the arrest report for 14-year-old Tyler Thomas, which says he was in possession of a Glock 22 handgun, 9mm firearm barrel, 40 cal magazine, and four rounds of ammunition. That was all found in a case in Tyler’s bag, after a student alerted security to the weapon, according to the arrest report.

The Duval County Public School District confirmed earlier this week that three people were being questioned in connection to this incident. We’re told the other students involved face disciplinary action under the Code of Conduct, but based on the investigation, they will not be arrested.
