You might run into some construction delays near the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens from now through next spring.

The Florida Department of Transportation says a resurfacing project at Interstate 95 at Zoo Parkway and Main Street interchange starts today.

The $3.4 million project involves milling and resurfacing, base work, drainage improvements, curb and gutter work, lighting, highway signage, sidewalks, guardrail work and more. On top of all that, the FDOT says two railroad crossings within the area will be resurfaced.

The construction will happen weekdays, weekends and weeknights, but the FDOT says no lane closures or detours will happen during peak travel times or on holidays or special event.

You’ll notice digital message boards several days ahead of time for any lane closures or detours associated with the work.
