CHICAGO — Update 9:25 p.m. EDT Aug. 30: One person is dead and four others were wounded Sunday afternoon after being shot while dining outside a restaurant in the Morgan Park neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.
The lone fatality involved a 31-year-old man police believe to be the target of the shooter, who pulled up to Lumes Pancake House just before 1:50 p.m. and opened fire on the outdoor diners, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
The unidentified victim was shot multiple times and was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the newspaper reported.
According to police, the wounded included a man and woman, both 32, shot in their legs and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where they were stabilized; a 43-year-old woman shot in the abdomen and buttocks and taken to the same hospital, where she was also stabilized; another woman, 30, shot in the foot and taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where she is listed in good condition.

Police responded just before 1:45 p.m. to the shootings outside Lumes Pancake House, and one victim was pronounced dead at the scene, WGN reported.
According to WLS, the victims were eating under a tent in a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant when the shooting began.
Three adults were transported in critical condition to Christ Hospital and two adults were transported to Little Company of Mary in good and fair condition respectively, the TV station reported.
Police have not confirmed if any suspects are in custody, and anonymous tips can be left at cpdtip.com, WGN reported.
