SEATTLE — A legally blind rapper known as “Mac Wayne” was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to federal charges.
Wayne Frisby, aka “Mac Wayne,” was sentenced to six years in prison with an additional four years of supervised release, as the judge noted “the massive size of the conspiracy and the huge quantity of drugs involved,” federal prosecutors said in a news release announcing the sentence.
Frisby was arrested in December 2020 after investigators identified the rapper making drug deals on recorded phone calls, KIRO reported. The phone calls also included discussions about helping a wanted man hide from law enforcement after a shooting.
Multiple search warrants resulted in the seizure of approximately 247 pounds of methamphetamine, 35 pounds of heroin, 42,000 fentanyl pills, 24 firearms and $525,000 in cash, KIRO reported.
Frisby appeared in a documentary produced by Amazon Prime, “Blind & Battered, the Blind Kingpin,” in which prosecutors said he freely discussed working as a drug dealer and a pimp. Federal prosecutors said that agents were able to identify Frisby on the wiretaps in the drug investigation by comparing his voice to the documentary.
