According to a police report, Wade came to the side door of the restaurant and asked his manager for a burger, the television station reported.
When the manager began to cook for Wade, he noticed the employee chatting with another worker while walking to the back of the restaurant, the Rome News-Tribune reported.
After hearing the back door open, the manager was confronted by two armed men wearing masks and gloves, according to the newspaper.
The manager told police that one of the men pointed a gun at him and directed them toward the store’s safe, WSB reported. Surveillance video showed one of the armed men grabbing the victim by the shirt, according to the television station.
The two men took approximately $1,500 from the lower section of the safe, the News-Tribune reported. According to the police report, the men demanded that the manager open the top half of the safe, but he said he did not have a key.
The men then forced the manager to open two tills in the front area of the store and took approximately $1,800, according to the newspaper. The men then demanded the security tapes from the office but the manager did not have access to them, the News-Tribune reported.
The total amount of cash taken was $3,350.40, according to the Coosa Valley News.
When police entered the restaurant, they found a large amount of loose change on the floor by the registers, along with a partially cooked hamburger on the counter, according to the News-Tribune.
“It was evident that everyone had left the restaurant in a hurry,” the police report stated.
Police later arrested Wade. The two men who allegedly robbed the restaurant remain at large, WSB reported.
Wade is being held without bond in the Floyd County Jail, online records show.
