TAMPA, Fla. — More than two weeks after a warrant was issued for his arrest, charges have been dropped against former NFL star Antonio Brown.
In a court filing, prosecutors said they were dropping criminal charges against Brown that had been filed on Nov. 29. The charge of domestic battery had resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for Brown that has since been recalled.
Officers with the Tampa Police Department spent at least an hour on Dec. 1 trying to arrest Brown, but the former football player refused to come out of his house. At the time, WFTS reported that its crews saw officers using a megaphone asking Brown to come out of the home.
According to a police report obtained by WTSP, Brown was accused of throwing a shoe at the mother of his children at his home, hitting her ponytail.
Brown was a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2010-2019, the New England Patriots from 2019-2020 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2020-2021, according to ESPN.
Brown’s contract was terminated by the Bucs in January 2021 after an incident in which he stripped off his jersey and shoulder pads on the field during a game.
