LOS ANGELES — A man unsuccessfully attempted to breach the cockpit of a SkyWest Airlines flight Friday before jumping from the plane’s emergency door and onto the taxiway at Los Angeles International Airport.
The man, who has not been identified, tried to open the cabin door of a United Express flight operated by SkyWest multiple times around 7:10 p.m., KNBC reported.
When he was unable to get into the cockpit, he opened a safety door and used the emergency slide to get onto the taxiway, authorities said.
The man was taken into custody and then to a hospital. SkyWest flight 5365 from Los Angeles later arrived in Salt Lake City, KTTV reported.
Airport police and the FBI are investigating.
It is the second time in as many days that an unauthorized person has gotten onto the runway at the airport. On Thursday, a man was taken into custody after driving through a fence and onto the runway, KNBC reported.
