In a news release, Michaels said it plans to hire 15,000 seasonal positions across the United States and Canada during a seasonal hiring event at all stores Sept. 17. The event will run from 12-4 p.m. local time, and candidates are invited to apply in advance online or in-person during the event where interviews will be held.

“Everything we do is for our Makers, and our Seasonal Team Members are integral to this mission,” Joe Venezia, Executive Vice President, store and chief operating officer, said in a statement. “We know there’s no more important time than the holidays to give all Makers a single destination for all of the inspiration, supplies, componentry, decor and gifts they need to celebrate the season, and we’re ready to knock it out of the park this year.”

The National Retail Federation predicted retail sales to grow in 2022 by 6-8% over 2021, with sales up 7% year-over-year during the first six months of the year, Forbes reported.

Michaels said in its news release that its seasonal workers get a 30% discount, and that last year it converted more than 50% of its seasonal in-store positions into regular roles after the holidays.
