TOUTLE, Wash. — A 2-year-old is dead after he was struck by a riding lawn mower in Washington state, authorities said.
According to the Daily News in Longview, Washington, the incident occurred about 5 p.m. Monday on Cornell Road in Toutle. A father and his toddler were riding on the zero-turn mower when the child fell, Cowlitz County sheriff’s deputies said. The father could not stop the mower before it struck the toddler, who immediately died, KOIN reported.
Deputies have not released the names of the father and child, according to the news outlets. The Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office now has the child’s body, authorities said.
No further information was immediately available.
