PORTLAND, Ore. — Democratic U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici of Oregon and her husband were injured Friday night after they were struck by a motorist while in a crosswalk.
Bonamici, 68, and her husband, U.S. District Judge Michael Simon, were struck in Portland as they left the Martin Luther King Jr. Shabbat Service hosted by Congregation Beth Israel at about 8:45 p.m. PST, The Oregonian reported.
According to Bonamici’s communications director, Natalie Crofts, Bonamici was treated for a concussion and a laceration to her head. She was released from an area hospital and is recovering at her home, Crofts added.

Simon was treated for minor injuries, according to The Oregonian. He was also released from the hospital, KOIN-TV reported.
Portland police said the couple was injured when a driver turned into them at low speed and knocked them down, KPTV reported. The driver was cooperative with police and stayed at the scene, police spokesperson Kevin Allen told The Oregonian. She was not arrested or cited.
Bonamici was first elected to the House in 2012 after winning a special election to succeed Democrat David Wu, according to CNN. The injuries forced her to miss town hall meetings in Clatsop and Tillamook counties, Crofts said.
