Clark's Fish Camp reopens after health violations

Clark's Fish Camp getting a bad report card from the state's Division of Hotels and Restaurants.

The popular Mandarin seafood restaurant was hit with almost three dozen health violations last week, including improper storage and temperatures for food, in the kitchen - cockroaches and flies were found, and unsanitary conditions for utensils and hand washing areas.

The Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation reported the restaurant had closed for several days while they addressed the health code violations.

WOKV spoke with Clark's Fish Camp owner Joan Peoples, who said that the restaurant never really closed, and she wasn't sure why other sources were saying they had.  She says they came in, informed them of the violations, and the people at Clark's took care of them that day.  She says they came in the next day, and everything was fine.

Peoples says she's devastated by everything that's happened with Clark's recently, and says she wants her customers and everyone else to know how sorry she is.

"I have never, never experienced anything as bad as this, other than death....that's the truth.  This is the worst thing that's ever happened to me besides losing a family member."

Clark's Fish Camp has been open for 38 years, Peoples says, and this is the first time the restaurant has ever had any sort of health code violations.
