EWC student arrested for rifle in dorm room

Jacksonville, FL — An Edward Waters College student has been arrested for having a rifle in his dorm room.

The arrest report for 20-year-old Quantez Sirmons says College staff seized the AR-556 rifle from the dorm room on Tuesday, after another student alerted them. JSO then took custody of the firearm, a magazine, and a round of ammunition, according to the report.

Siremons has been arrested for possession of a firearm on school property, which is a felony. EWC says he has also been indefinitely suspended, adding they have a “zero-tolerance policy” for weapons on campus.
