Jacksonville, FL. —
12/7/2020 UPDATE:
Family identifies one of the drivers as 34-year-old Jackie Penalver.
Action News Jax reached out to the Florida Department of Transportation about bridge Safety.
A spokesperson replied with this statement:
The Florida Department of Transportation has a robust bridge inspection program. Bridges are inspected, at minimum every two years. The inspection process ensures the bridge is structurally sound and provides a good value to taxpayers by allowing maintenance issues to be identified early to extend the life of the investment in infrastructure.
