Fleming Island Elementary employee arrested for soliciting child for sex

A Fleming Island Elementary School employee has been arrested for trying to have sex with a minor.

44-year-old Sabrina Burden was arrested Wednesday at her home on County Road 220 in Middleburg on charges of traveling to meet a minor for sex and soliciting a child for unlawful sexual conduct.

As of Friday morning, she's being held on $75,006 bond at the Clay County Jail. She's required to have no contact with the victim if she bonds out.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit started investigating the Texas native after hearing about an electronic communication between her and the victim.

The arrest report did note that Burden and the victim were strangers prior to engaging in some form of conversation between April 25 and May 12 of this year.

According to that report, detectives believe Burden intended to meet and engage in a sex act with the victim somewhere in the county.

CCSO did interview both Burden and the victim, but their statements were redacted from the report. The identity of the victim - including age and sex - was also redacted.

The Clay County School District confirms Burden has been employed since 2014. She is currently an ESE Assistant at Fleming Island Elementary.

A district spokeswoman says Burden is a ten-month employee whose last day of the school year was Monday.

Deputies say Burden's children were released to a friend of the family when she was arrested.
