Jacksonville FL — Late Friday afternoon, the Division of Emergency Management for Florida announced they will begin the transition to just administering the one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine beginning Tuesday morning. They say they will have up to 3,000 doses a day at the site and as a result, first doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be ending after Monday. If you received your first dose of Pfizer at the site, you will be able to return to the same location for your second dose.
Previously we were told by the state that they would be able to administer up to 3,000 first doses a day of the Pfizer vaccine through May 4th. At that time the state did say that date could change.
Meanwhile, the two satellite sites associated with the gateway mall will be moving back to the Carver Recreation Center in Jacksonville Beach and Oceanway Community Center beginning this Sunday for second doses if you got your first at either site.
In an update to a story we had been following all Friday long, the state now says 16 and 17-year-olds will be able to get a vaccine at the Gateway Mall location Monday once eligibility expands. We’re told they will need a parent or guardian present and a permission form filled out.
This Monday vaccine eligibility is expanding to all adults.
💉VACCINE UPDATE: Beginning April 6, the federally-supported vaccination sites in Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville & Miami will only offer the one dose J & J vaccine. Each site will be able to administer up to 3,000 per day.
