Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville man found guilty of distributing child pornography earlier this year has been sentenced.
Judge Richard W. Goldberg sentenced Jason James Neiheisel, 28, to seven years in federal prison and ordered he register as a sex offender.
According to the criminal complaint, Neiheisel was arrested on May 4, 2017, after an online investigation conducted by an FBI task force officer identified a host computer in Jacksonville that was offering child sex abuse videos for distribution.
When FBI agents first questioned Neiheisel at his home, he told the agents that he used a file-sharing network to download child pornography and enjoyed the "thrill of the hunt" when locating child pornography, according to the US Attorney’s Office.
The case was part of an ongoing operation called "Project Safe Childhood" launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat sexual exploitation and abuse.
