She faked her license, made up her history, and even commissioned a plaque for an award that doesn’t exist.
They’re all accusations against 48-year-old Amy Pohlman, of Jacksonville, who has now been arrested for two counts of practicing as a Health Care Professional without an active, valid Florida license.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office says Pohlman was hired as a Nurse Administrator for Ponte Vedra Home Care in October 2015, with documents showing she had a nursing license. She further claimed to have a PhD and to be an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. After working for a period of time, she branched out and also provided some services as a Care Manager.
In June, the company searched Pohlman’s license to see if it was still valid, and couldn’t find any record of one ever existing, per SJSO. The Florida Health Department was notified, and a formal investigation started. At that time, Pohlman resigned.
Investigators say Pohlman had created a fake license and didn’t hold any degree in nursing. She also claimed to have won an award from Mayo Clinic, but it’s since been determined that award doesn’t exist, and Pohlman allegedly paid to have the plaque put together on her own.
The case was investigated with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Florida Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. More charge are pending further investigation.
