UPDATE: Charge dropped against now-former JSO corrections officer

Jacksonville, FL — UPDATE 9/11/19: Duval County court records show that the Assistant State Attorney has declined to prosecute Jarvis Brannon III for these charges.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has arrested one of its own.

Director Tom Hackney says JSO has arrested Jarvis Brannon III after he knowingly pushed a woman who was a pregnant with his child down during an argument.

"My tolerance level for those who want to put their hands on their partners is extremely low."

According to Hackney, Brannon and the woman were in a relationship but had separated. Brannon had gone to the woman’s Westside home and that’s when the argument started. The woman was injured in the fall but was able to call the police. The woman was not seriously hurt.

Brannon has been with JSO since 2016. He had a level one written reprimand last year but according to Hackney, but it was nothing serious. JSO says there were no other complaints it was aware of about domestic violence regarding Brannon. Brannon has since resigned.  He is now facing an aggravated battery upon a pregnant female charge.

This is the third arrest of a JSO employee of 2019, and the only domestic battery arrest the agency has had since 2017.
