Jacksonville, FL — After seeing an increase in apartment burglaries on the Southside, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is issuing a crime alert.

Police tell us over the last 14 days, apartments in the Southside Boulevard and Baymeadows Circle area have been targeted, including the following:

• Coventry Park at Southpoint - 6650 Corporate Center Parkway – Two incidents

• Del Sol Apartments - 7900 Baymeadows Cir. E – One incident

• St. Johns Plantation Apartments - 7595 Baymeadows Circle W. – Three incidents

• Point Park - 9765 Southbrook Drive – Two incidents

• Pointe Parc at St Johns - 7524 Southside Blvd – Two incidents

JSO says the majority of these burglaries have happened during the day, with the thieves forcing open the front door. Televisions, in particular, seem to be their focus.

Police are asking you to keep an eye out for any suspicious-looking people in, or around your apartment building, and to call them, as well as the apartment manager, if anything seems off.

They've also advised getting a deadbolt lock for your apartment and to ask your neighbors to keep an eye on your apartment if you're away.

If you have any information about these burglaries, you're urged to contact JSO at (904) 630-0500 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
