JSO: Two fully-trained dogs going up for adoption in late November

They're fully trained and looking for a family.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says two dogs from their 'A New Leash on Life' program are going up for adoption later this month.

They say both dogs have been trained, are up-to-date on all of their shots, heart-worm negative, as well as micro-chipped.

'Casper' is a 6-year-old Labrador Retriever Mix. JSO says he's very sweet and laid back, and knows how to sit, stay, and walk well on a leash.

'Pedro' is also up for adoption. He's a one-year-old Lab mix who loves water and chasing the ball.

As part of the 'A New Leash on Life' program, Pedro and Casper were taken from the city's shelter, where they would likely would have been euthanized, if not adopted.

The dogs were then moved to a prison, where they were trained by inmates to become more adoptable.

If you are interested in adopting "Casper" or "Pedro" please contact Officer Irre at 904-766-5004.

To adopt either dog, you will need to pay a $40 adoption fee.
