Latest review of FSCJ coming in

Executive leadership, college structure, entertainment and hospitality- just a few of the areas under the microscope at Florida State College at Jacksonville.

At a special board meeting this morning we are hearing the results of an independent institutional review performed by MGT, a Tallahassee based company contracted by the college to perform the review.

This latest review comes on the heels of a reports which shows a “lax culture” at the college, which led to problems in financial aid management.  We know FSCJ is now dealing with Pell Grant reimbursements and fines dealing with improperly distributed loans.

Today’s review began in an effort to help revive the college’s image amid these other problems.  In previous conversations with Board of Trustees Chair Jim McCollum, he told me an institutional check like this is healthy for the college.  It is unclear at this time exactly what changes will come from this review, however FSCJ President Steven Wallace told WOKV we can expect “administrative consequences” at the college next month relating to the financial aid review.

We are now learning this may not be the last review in store for FSCJ.   State Senator Steve Oelrich, representing Gainesville, is calling for an institutional review of FSCJ.

I will be at this morning’s FSCJ special meeting which begins at 10 AM.  I’ll tweet updates as the review comes down, follow @WOKVNews.
