Local attorneys now pushing back and stepping in to represent Cindy Laquidara following a lawsuit challenging her appointment as general counsel.

The lawsuit filed by the Concerned Taxpayers of Duval county claims she was never properly appointed as the city's general counsel. Jacksonville Attorney Kevin Hyde, managing partner of Foley & Lardner says he and four other lawyers will represent Cindy Laquidara.

"We strongly believe in the role of General Counsel in our consolidated local government."
He calls the lawsuit filed against her by the Concerned Taxpayers of Duval County a distraction.
"We want to make sure the General Counsel of our city can focus on issues important to our city."
Hyde tells WOKV he believes she was properly appointed and he hopes to resolve the matter quickly. It won't cost taxpayers a dime because they plan to provide her legal services free of charge.
