One arrested, one sought following double shooting off 103rd

An 18-year-old has been arrested and another suspect is still on the loose following a double shooting off 103rd Street.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the primary suspect, 21-year-old Javon Fudge, and the victim, Lorenzo Thomas, knew each other prior to the August 23rd shooting and would buy and sell drugs from each other.  About two weeks prior to the shooting, Fudge allegedly robbed Thomas at gunpoint of $90 of marijuana, creating bad blood between the two of them. They had spoken about fighting, and that led them to meet up at the Deerpointe Trailer Park, according to JSO.

Fudge and another suspect, who is still at large at this time, confronted Thomas and another victim. JSO says Fudge then started shooting, hitting Thomas twice. The other victim tried shooting back but missed, and was also hit twice. Thomas later died at the hospital, while the other victim- who is a teen which JSO is not identifying because of the outstanding suspect- is recovering.

JSO says Thomas identified Fudge to first responders at the scene and the second victim corroborated that. Fudge initially denied involvement, but when he was confronted with inconsistencies in his story, JSO says he later said he was at the confrontation.

The second suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s, 5’8”, 170 pounds, with long dreads and a beard. JSO believes this incident was targeted, but still wants the community to be on the lookout for the suspect and the potential danger he poses.

Fudge has been charged with second degree murder, aggravated battery, and robbery.
