One dead, two injured in westside Jacksonville shooting

One man is dead and two others are in the hospital Tuesday morning after a shooting on Jacksonville's westside.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is trying to figure out whether there was some kind of altercation between the victims and a shooter or if the shooting was a result of an altercation between the three at an apartment complex on Westchase Court, near 103rd and Ricker Road.

"We don't know that, of the three persons, that all three of them are victims. You know, there's an outside chance that maybe they were all involved in an altercation with each other but I can't say that definitively at this point. It's still early," said Sgt. Dan Janson with JSO.

The deceased victim has been identified as 24-year-old Anton White. His sister tells our partner Action News she had just spoken with her brother and hours before the shooting and received a call from a family member saying that he had been shot. She says by the time she got to the scene, he had already died.

"I had just left him, like an hour before all this happened. I had just left him, they kissed my son and told him they loved him and that was the last time I saw them."

She says she's also related to another one of the victims who was shot in the leg and has been talking with police at the hospital. The third person shot sustained life-threatening injuries.

Police say the victims are all in their early 20's and police do not have a suspect at this time.

If you have any information you are asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at (904) 630-0500.
