Jacksonville FL — Friday, Florida’s Division of Emergency Management provided an update on vaccination efforts at the federally supported sites amid the Johnson & Johnson vaccine pause in the state. The state says the plan is to once again administer first doses of the Pfizer vaccine at the federally supported site at the Gateway Mall on Jacksonville’s Northside beginning this Tuesday. Previously the site was only able to administer second doses of Pfizer after the J&J pause was put in place Tuesday. We’re told the state is anticipating first dose capacity will be lower than the 3,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson that were capable of being administered before the pause. They say more information on first dose capacity is expected to be released Monday.
As of now, the site is expected to close on Wednesday, May 26th, and the state says it’s committed to making sure that everyone who got their first dose at the site will be able to get their second dose. The site has pushed back its closing date before.
