PHOTOS: Robbery suspect is targeting older victims

Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is hoping you can help them identify this suspect, who’s accused of two robbery incidents in Walmart parking lots- both dealing with older victims.

In one case last Thursday, the suspect allegedly ran up behind a 78-year-old man in the parking lot of the Walmart on Normandy, while the man was pushing a cart and looking for his car. The suspect allegedly snatched a backpack from the victim’s hand. That bag had the victim’s checkbook in it.

This past Monday, a suspect who’s believed to be the same man attempted a similar snatching robbery in the parking lot of the Walmart on Beach Blvd, this time targeting a 62-year-old woman. JSO says the purse snagged on the victim’s arm and then she didn’t want to give it up, although the suspect continued to try to get the purse, ultimately throwing the victim to the ground. The suspect fled without the purse, while the victim was left with a broken hand. Witnesses reported that the suspect got in to a white sedan to flee the scene.

If  you have any information about these incidents or this suspect, you’re asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org. You can also submit an anonymous tip and be eligible for a possible $3,000 reward by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.

This article has been updated to reflect that one of the victims is a man. JSO initially reported on social media that both victims were females, however the incident reports we have obtained show one of the victims is a man.
