Police shoot a Clay County man after they say he approached them with a weapon drawn.
Clay Sheriff's deputies got a call just after 10pm Thursday about a man acting suicidal at an apartment complex on Crossings Blvd near Wells Road.
They say as deputy Reginald Hyatt, 26, arrived on scene, Nicholas Cannady, also 26, was pointing a gun at him. Hyatt then reportedly fired three times, seriously injuring Cannady. He was taken to Orange Park Medical Center and as of Friday morning is listed in critical condition, according to CCSO.

Deputy Hyatt has been with the Clay County Sheriff's Office since March 2011. He has been placed on administrative leave as is protocol when an officer is involved in a shooting.
Cannady's arrest record includes one for marijuana possession and one for DUI.
