St. Johns County COVID testing site closing this Friday

Jacksonville FL — On Wednesday, St. Johns County announced it was closing its COVID-19 testing site at the Wind Mitigation Building this Friday at 4 in the afternoon. The county says it’s closing down due to a lack of federal funding. We’re told since early March daily testing numbers at the site have been going down with the site averaging less than 100 tests a day during that time frame. The county sites widespread COVID testing available through the federal government or the private sector and a decrease in overall COVID infections

Last month we reported when the county announced reduced hours for the facility due to a decrease in demand.

If you need to get a COVID test there are several locations available including Avecina Medical in Fruit Cove and MedOne Urgent Care in St. Augustine. You can also get one at all CVS, Walgreens, and CareSpot Urgent Care locations in the county.
