Suspect charged with murder, four counts of attempted murder following Baldwin shootings

Jacksonville, FL — A day after a deadly shooting and a subsequent officer-involved shooting in Baldwin, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is releasing new details about the suspect and a possible motive.

According to JSO, investigators now believe the shooting at the Pilot Travel Center on US 301 was a case of workplace violence, not a random shooting. WOKV told you on Thursday about the shooting which killed one man and injured another.

Police are now identifying the suspect in that shooting as 56-year-old Leroy Edwards Jr. They say he worked for Rinaudo Enterprises Inc.  Police say Edwards is being charged with one count of 2nd-degree murder and one count of attempted murder in connection to this incident.

As for the subsequent police-involved shooting on I-10 eastbound, police say Edwards fired at three officers, forcing those officers to return fire. Police have released photos of the gun they say belongs to Edwards, as well as the officers' vehicles that were hit by gunfire.

For this incident, police say Edwards is additionally being charged with three counts of attempted murder.

JSO says this continues to be an active investigation, so they're asking anyone with information to come forward. You can call the sheriff's office at (904) 630-0500.
